Memoirist and publisher Mahler to visit campus March 14

Oklahoma State University will welcome memoirist and publisher Kristine Langley Mahler to campus on March 14 to speak “On the Inquiry for Truth as a Civic Good.” Mahler is the author of two nonfiction books, “A Calendar Is a Snakeskin” and “Curing Season: Artifacts.”

Dr. Charles Abramson, Oklahoma State University Department of Psychology Regents Professor, was published in American Scientist magazine’s January-February issue for “A Hidden Life of Research,” an article highlighting the life and accomplishments of African American comparative psychologist Charles Henry Turner.

Student art exhibition combines oil painting and microscopic imagery

Students enrolled in Oklahoma State University’s Oil Painting I and Oil Painting for Non-Majors courses are displaying their work in the exhibition “Moments Magnified” at the OSU Research Park starting March 7. “Moments Magnified” includes 12 oil paintings inspired by microscopic imagery captured using the scanning electron microscope at OSU’s microscopy facility. Students enrolled in the courses chose objects to view with the SEM at the beginning of the semester. Then, after receiving training on the machine, they captured images to inspire their oil paintings.

Reichert awarded $1.5M CAREER grant from NSF for animal behavior research

The Oklahoma State University “Studio Art BFA Capstone Exhibition” opened at the Gardiner Gallery of Art on Feb. 26, with pieces from 11 graduating seniors. The featured artwork of Lillian Cordes, Jessica Crow, Grayson Davis, Andrew Avartanian, Becca Kendrick, Althea Lackey, Bayley Ross, Jalon Taylor, Jessi Sands, Autum Tanner and Nicholas Naple represents their years at OSU experimenting, developing and refining a distinct body of work that demonstrates their artistic growth.
