Chancellor Sean Burrage to address OSU Fall Commencement

Amazing Gracie: Father plays bagpipes at daughter’s OSU graduation after 11 years of commencements

Tony Spurlock's daughter, Gracie, came along to watch her dad play at nearly every commencement. Over the years, the two have formed many ties with the university, creating memories along the way. This year, however, looks different for the Spurlocks. Tony will be there in December to play as his daughter will once again watch on, but this time as a graduate.

A conversation with OSU Student Body President Riley 'Wes' Hurlbut

Riley "Wes" Hurlbut, a 2025 College of Arts and Sciences graduate and current master’s student , was elected Oklahoma State University’s Student Body President in the spring. Hurlbut, who has served in student government for more than three years, said his priority as president is strengthening the impact and accessibility of the Student Government Association. OSU physicists discover universal ‘Squeezing Phase Transition’ with implications for quantum technology

A team of physicists at Oklahoma State University led by assistant professor Dr. Thomas Bilitewski has identified universal behavior in the way quantum systems evolve, with potential applications in quantum enhanced sensors. The findings, which advance our understanding of entanglement or the quantum property famously described by Albert Einstein as “spooky action at a distance,” were published in the journal Physical Review Letters on September 11.

OSU physicist awarded $600K Air Force grant to advance quantum simulation

Stabilizing Force: OSU researchers create ‘smoke alarm’ for earthquakes

Intact — a seismic device about the size of a shoebox — is simple to use: Just clamp it to a structure’s foundation, and it connects to the WiFi, sending data to servers that can provide a digital footprint for the building. This allows people to see how often the structure is subliminally shaking and give them time to stabilize it in case of an earthquake.

History’s Eisenberg receives NEH grant for collaborative research on the First Plague Pandemic

Oklahoma State University Department of History assistant professor Dr. Merle Eisenberg recently received a National Endowment for the Humanities Collaboration grant for nearly $250,000 to conduct research on the First Plague Pandemic. The College of Arts and Sciences faculty member will be working alongside Hebrew University of Jerusalem senior lecturer Dr. Lee Mordechai to produce a book on the historical pandemic — which took place between about 541-750 CE — that’s tentatively titled, “Pandemic and History: Disease, Myth, and the End of Antiquity.”
