OSU physicist awarded $539K NSF grant to advance quantum technologies

Oklahoma State University’s Dr. Yingmei Liu has received a $539,000 National Science Foundation grant to develop quantum-enhanced technologies using a highly programmable quantum simulator. Liu, an OSU Department of Physics professor, will lead the 3-year project to demonstrate the powerful capabilities of OSU’s programmable quantum simulator — which was designed and implemented by ten OSU physics students — and explore its applications in quantum information science (QIS) and quantum sensing.
Physics microfabrication lab fuels research and discovery across OSU disciplines

Fri, Aug 01, 2025

The Department of Physics at Oklahoma State University recently added new equipment to its Cowboy Microfabrication Corral, which provides industry-grade tools and resources for faculty and students across OSU campus. Formally known as the Crystal Growth Lab — which had been around for decades — the Cowboy Microfabrication Corral needed a rebrand after receiving an “influx of new equipment that was not specific to crystal growth,” said OSU physics assistant professor Derrick Meyers. “The CMC is run by the physics department but is set up as a user facility for anyone to be able to utilize.”
