Mid-Air Miracle: OSU-COM alumnus saves life during flight

Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine alumnus Dr. TJ Trad was returning from a medical mission trip to Uganda in April 2025 when he responded to the call for a doctor about three hours into his flight because a male passenger was suffering from symptoms of a heart attack.

OSU-COM alum donates $250,000 to establish endowed scholarship fund

Dr. Adam Smith, a bariatric surgeon and founder of Ultimate Bariatrics, donated $250,000 to establish the Adam B. Smith, DO, DFACOS Family Endowed Scholarship. The scholarship aims to support students from north Texas pursuing their medical education at OSU-COM.

Meet Early Childhood Education Alumna, Hannah Severson

Hannah Severson graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2012 with a degree in Human Development and Family Science, option in early childhood education. Her experiences at OSU sparked her passion for early childhood education and prepared her to become an influential educator. After obtaining her degree, Severson has pioneered a pre-k program at a highly-ranked school in Fort Worth, Texas, overcome challenges from teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic and continues to make a positive difference in the classroom.

College honors Lou Watkins with a Hall of Fame induction

Lou Watkins’ connections to Oklahoma State University run deep. She is a two-time graduate of the university, past member and chair of the Oklahoma A&M Board of Regents and even met her husband of 57 years, former state senator and U.S. Rep. Wes Watkins, at the OSU library. Most recently, Watkins was inducted into the 2021 OSU College of Education and Human Sciences Hall of Fame, the highest honor bestowed by the college. The recognition celebrates her lifelong commitment to empowering others through education and public service and honors her significant contributions to the college and the university.
