Ashlee Ford Versypt elected to serve for the National ASEE Chemical Engineering Division

Ashlee N. Ford Versypt, assistant professor in Oklahoma State University’s school of chemical engineering has been elected to serve as the incoming chair-elect followed by chair and past chair in a three-year term for the national American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Chemical Engineering Division. ASEE is a nonprofit organization of individuals and institutions committed to furthering education in engineering and engineering technology.

Hiring a diverse workforce with artificial intelligence

How can we remove unconscious biases from hiring practices and ensure a more diverse workforce? According to Oklahoma State University researcher Kimberly Houser, the answer is to address the source of the problem – human decision-making. Her soon-to-be published research shows that using machine decision-making through artificial intelligence (AI) can remove unconscious bias and “noise” from the hiring and promotion process and begin making the workplace reflect a diverse society.

The producers of the FAIRtax Power Radio podcast recorded their program at Spears Business in May showcasing master’s accounting students who quizzed the program’s hosts about the details of a national grassroots tax reform proposal. Part one of the podcast will be streamed on Facebook and YouTube this week.

The Aerospace Propulsion and Power Program in the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology (CEAT) at OSU scored the highest turbojet thrust-to-weight improvement at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) sponsored Aerospace Propulsion Outreach Program (APOP) challenge held in Dayton, OH at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base on May 15 – 18th.
