CAS students selected as first Beckman Scholars Program awardees

The Oklahoma State University Beckman Scholars Program (BSP) has selected College of Arts and Sciences undergraduate students Adriahna Blackburn and Nina Parvin to be the first scholars in the program at OSU.

Jacek Tyminski honors former professor with Richard C. Powell Graduate Fellowship

Dr. Jacek Tyminski was all alone in 1979, having traveled more than 5,000 miles from Elblag, Poland, to Stillwater. He was a refugee, coming to OSU to pursue his Ph.D. because of deteriorating conditions in his home country. Arriving at Oklahoma State University, he felt completely disoriented, with no connections and no direction. But thanks to the kindness of physics professor Dr. Richard Powell, Tyminski soon found a family.

OSU Department of Physics aims to resurrect Mendenhall Observatory

The Department of Physics is raising funds to restore Oklahoma State University’s Mendenhall Observatory, which is currently nonoperational and requires updating the telescope control system. Located just southwest of OSU’s Stillwater campus, the observatory houses the largest telescope in the state.

OSU's Optically Stimulated Luminescence technique takes flight
