Oklahoma State University Forms Technology Collaboration with Baker Hughes

Oklahoma State University (“OSU”) announced today a technology collaboration with Baker Hughes that will drive cross-industry collaboration and innovation, in addition to the donation of Baker Hughes Energy Innovation Center (“the Center”) located in the Innovation District east of downtown Oklahoma City. This is a game changer for OSU and the state of Oklahoma, supporting public and private enterprises in Oklahoma City and beyond.

For microbiology professor, it’s all about the little things

An article co-authored by Dr. Wouter Hoff of the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics was recently published in Nature’s Scientific Reports, a prestigious journal that focuses on advancements in the natural and clinical sciences. Hoff’s research on extreme halophiles—bacteria that thrive in high-salt environments—led to the discovery that certain bacteria are able to switch osmoprotectant strategies.

Computer Science awarded grant to help with COVID-19 response

The National Science Foundation recently awarded Oklahoma State University’s Department of Computer Science a Rapid Response Research grant of more than $100,000 to develop virtual reality-based training simulators for COVID-19 first responders. Computer science professor Dr. J. Cecil, who is leading the project, explained that the proposal was approved by NSF in a matter of weeks—a process that can typically take at least six months.

Incoming CEAT freshman to receive $60k scholarship

Trevor Hughes of Morrison Okla. got quite the surprise this past Wednesday when he found out he would be receiving a $60,000 scholarship from electric utility company OGE Energy Corp. Morrison school superintendent Brent Haken helped organize a celebratory parade of friends and Oklahoma Natural Gas and Electric (OG&E) representatives to drive past Hughes’ house with congratulatory messages when he found out Hughes was receiving the scholarship.
