School of Hospitality and Tourism Management names director of beverage education center

Long-time Tulsa beverage manager and educator Tony Collins has been named director of the Wayne Hirst Center for Beverage Education at the Oklahoma State University School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM). Collins brings nearly 20 years of experience with restaurants, craft breweries and special events, including consumer education and employee training, to the Stillwater campus.

Oklahoma State University is in its third year of hosting the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, which began in 2014 and is the flagship program of the Youth African Leaders Initiative.

What's the future of the dreaded performance appraisal

Much of that research shows that traditional approaches to judging a person’s work performance are perceived as less than helpful and often even counterproductive. Oklahoma State University professor Dr. Tom Stone is charting a shift away from the traditional boss as ‘judge and jury’ approach to evaluating performance in newer systems where talent development is the goal.

Bender hopes to incorporate philanthropy into career
