A couple guided by faith and giving

Lucina and Kyle Thompson met at Oklahoma State University as freshmen and married a year after graduating. What happened in between was the development of a deep friendship before that friendship turned romantic. For both, it was life changing as was their time at OSU where the couple developed a world view guided by their faith that placed serving others ahead of themselves.

Career success inspired by ambitious family-led business

Shane Wharton joined Love’s Travel Stops and Country Stores as a budget analyst more than 20 years ago at an opportune time. Since 1964, the Oklahoma City business has grown from a single gas station in western Oklahoma to more than 530 locations in 41 states. An Oklahoma State University graduate and now president of Love’s, Wharton helped orchestrate the rise of one of the country’s largest family-owned businesses. In 2020, he was named a Spears School of Business Distinguished Alumni.

OSU alums named to Forbes 30 Under 30 entrepreneurs list

Oklahoma State University business and engineering graduates Haley Marie Keith and Kevin Keith have been selected by Forbes magazine to be included in its 2021 list of 30 Under 30 standout manufacturing and industry entrepreneurs under 30 years of age. The married couple were still OSU students when they developed the business MITO Material Solutions based on OSU licensed and patented technology that incorporates graphene additives into composite materials such as epoxies or polymers, making them substantially stronger and lighter.

Driven to succeed

It’s easy to see that Cory Sales is driven to succeed – both in his career but also in being there for his family. Since 2014, the 40-year-old has earned two associate’s degrees and a bachelor’s degree while working full time and being a husband, dad and grandfather. Though he attended Oklahoma State University-Tulsa a little later in life, his drive to graduate led to his recently being offered the position of senior IT security analyst for all of the Creek Nation casinos in Oklahoma.

OSU Alumni Association Hall of Fame to celebrate accomplished alumni

Three Spears School of Business alumni will be inducted into the 2020 class of the OSU Alumni Association Hall of Fame. The three Oklahoma State University business graduates include Linda Parrack Livingstone, president of Baylor University, the late Neal L. Patterson, co-founder of Cerner Corporation, and Bruce T. Benbrook, chairman and CEO of Stock Exchange Bank.
