OSU Alum Selected as 2019 Oklahoma School Counselor of the Year

Oklahoma State University alumna Sarah Kirk has been selected as the Oklahoma School Counselor of the Year for 2018-19 by the Oklahoma School Counselor Association (OSCA). Kirk earned a master’s in counseling, option in school counseling from the OSU College of Education, Health and Aviation in 2012. She has been a school counselor at Monroe Elementary School in Norman for the past six years. The School Counselor of the Year program honors the professionals who devote their careers to serving as advocates for the nation’s students, helping them achieve success in school and in life.

Future Teacher Surprised with Life-Changing Gift

While most Mondays are easily forgotten, that was not the case for Jordan Webb, graduating elementary education senior in the Oklahoma State University College of Education, Health and Aviation, who was surprised with a life-changing gift on Monday afternoon. Bryan Close, OSU alumnus, announced that he was paying off Webb’s student loan debt through a scholarship award.

OSU Graduate Students Awarded $8,000 Counseling Fellowship

The National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) Foundation recently selected two Oklahoma State University graduate students for the NBCC Minority Fellowship Program-Youth (MFP-Y). Chabreal Atkins McDaniel and Y. Ade Bakare will each receive $8,000 to support their education and facilitate their service to underserved minority populations, with a specific focus on transition-age youth (ages 16-25).
