OSUTeach offers value beyond the classroom

Meranda Golbek came to OSU with specific goals in mind. She knew she wanted to major in chemistry and then go to medical school. But sitting in New Student Orientation the summer before her freshman year, Golbeck was thrown a curve ball. The speaker mentioned a new program, OSUTeach.

OSU Theatre presents “How I Learned to Drive”

The OSU Department of Theatre is driven by a vision for the community as it presents the Pulitzer Prize-winning play, “How I Learned to Drive,” by Paula Vogel, Feb. 22-24 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 25 at 2:30 p.m. in the Vivia Locke Theatre at the Seretean Center for the Performing Arts. For this production, the theatre department has collaborated with Payne County Youth Services to provide support for the youth in the community.

Nothing compares to working with your idol on a project of your passion, but Oklahoma State University junior Kyle Hunt did just that. Hunt and his classmates from the OSU Jazz Orchestra created an album with Grammy Award-winning trombonist Michael Dease through the help of their professor and OSU director of jazz studies Tommy Poole.

A Mixture of Cultures, One Vision for the Future

Sergio Mares found his way to Stillwater differently than most. Born in Eagle Pass, Texas, his mother moved back to Mexico shortly after his birth, where he spent most of his childhood. Mares returned to the United States in August of 2014, and attended Stillwater High School, graduating in May of 2017.

Coburn inducted into OSU Hall of Fame

The Oklahoma State University Alumni Association is installing four new members into the prestigious OSU Hall of Fame. Sarah Coburn, a native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, will be inducted at a ceremony Friday, February 9, at the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center.

Community Member Connects on Campus and Fulfills a Lifelong Dream

Grants awarded to researchers in humanities, arts and design

Oklahoma State University faculty in the humanities, arts and design have been awarded research grants in a new funding program from the Office of the Vice President for Research. Grants of up to $10,000 were awarded to 15 tenured and tenure-track faculty to fund a research project in their areas of study.

OSU doctoral student wins research fellowship at Argonne National Lab

Wasikul Islam, a graduate student in physics at Oklahoma State University, has been selected for a prized research fellowship at the Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) in Chicago, one of the largest science and energy laboratories in the U.S.

OSU Political Science Professor Awarded the 2018 Western Social Science Association’s Outstanding Emerging Scholar Award

Dr. Tristan Wu has been selected as a 2018 Western Social Science Association’s Outstanding Emerging Scholar Award recipient. Recipients of this award have been active in his or her discipline for less than five years after receiving their Ph.D. Dr. Wu graduated from Texas A&M University in 2013 before coming to Oklahoma State. He teaches emergency management and disaster response courses. Since receiving his Ph.D., Wu has published several works in over five emergency and disaster management journals.

Jaco leads the way for CAS faculty and staff at the University Awards Convocation

William “Bus” Jaco was selected as the 2017 Eminent Faculty Award winner at the Oklahoma State University Awards Convocation on Dec. 6 at the OSU ConocoPhillips Alumni Center. The award recognizes the highest level of scholarly achievement at OSU. Jaco is a Regents professor and head of the department of mathematics in the College of Arts and Sciences.
