Employees complete OSUPD Citizens Academy

Thirteen Oklahoma State University employees have completed the OSU Police Department Citizens Academy. The group went through more than 20 hours of class on everything from training requirements to be an officer to crime scene evidence preservation. The class culminated with time on a training simulator, hosted by the Stillwater Police Department.

The Oklahoma State University Police Department is offering a basic physical self-defense training course for women from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 9-10 and Sept. 16-17. Rape Aggression Defense Systems teaches realistic self-defense tactics and techniques.

OSU Police Department aces reaccreditation with no fixes

The Oklahoma State University Police Department recently passed its reaccreditation with the Oklahoma Law Enforcement Accreditation Program administered through the Oklahoma Association of Chiefs of Police. OSUPD was the first department to earn the accreditation with OLEAP and earned its recent reaccreditation with no errors noted

Memorial dedicated for OSUPD officer killed in 1992

A crowd of family, friends and 18 uniformed police officers gathered at a turnout along State Highway 51C to dedicate a new memorial to former Oklahoma State University Police Officer Brent Daniel. On May 14, 1992, Daniel and his girlfriend, Shelly Manley (now Whiting), were on his motorcycle on the road when they were struck from behind by a drunk driver. Daniel was killed, and his girlfriend was critically injured.

Memorial dedication set for OSUPD officer killed in 1992

The public is invited to the dedication of a new memorial for former Oklahoma State University Police Officer Brent Daniel at 2 p.m. June 22 at Lake Carl Blackwell. On May 14, 1992, Daniel and his girlfriend, Shelly Manley, were on his motorcycle on State Highway 51C when they were struck from behind by a drunk driver traveling more than 90 mph. Daniel was killed. Manley, who was critically injured, has gone on to dedicate her life to helping individuals as a behavioral health adviser.

OSUPD swears in two new officers

The Oklahoma State University Police Department officially welcomed two new officers with a swearing-in ceremony Friday. Aaron Spears and Vincent Benincasa joined the department last June and graduated from the police academy in the fall. Both have experience as public service officers.
