OSU receives large NSF grant to build new supercomputer

Researchers at OSU recently were awarded a Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) award from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to develop a new supercomputer. This award issued under the Major Research Instrumentation mechanism is one of the largest granted to build a supercomputer.

Frank ‘Pistol Pete’ Eaton inducted into National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum

The descendants of U.S. Deputy Marshal Frank Boardman Eaton will be able to speak of the night Pistol Pete was inducted into the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum with some of the biggest names in Hollywood on hand. Eaton, who was the inspiration for Oklahoma State University’s mascot, died 64 years ago, but his spirit lived on Saturday in Oklahoma City. His family and 28 former Pistol Pete mascots were on hand to accept the award as Eaton was inducted into the Hall of Great Westerners.

The National Cowboy Museum’s Hall of Great Westerners will soon induct famed lawman Frank Eaton — the inspiration for Oklahoma State University’s Pistol Pete mascot. Eaton is among honorees who will be recognized at the 61st Western Heritage Awards , April 8-9 at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.
